National Education Policy 2020

Hi, friends cabinet has approved the New Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) that is National Education Policy 2020.

Education policy has been changed after 34 years.

The remarkable things about the new education policy are as follows.

  1. There will be a board in 12th class only.
  2. 4 years of College degree.
  3. No 10th boards.
  4. M.Philll will also be closed.
  5. Now students upto 5th will be taught in their mother tongue or local language and national language only.  The rest of the subjects even if they are English will be taught as a subject.
  6. Now students have to take board exams in 12th standard whereas earlier it was mandatory to take the 10th board exam which will not happen now.
  7. Examination will be done in the semester from 9th standard to 12th standard.
  8. Schooling will be done under the 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 formula.

Let Us See What is this 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 formula

First 5 Years (Foundational Study)

  1. Nursery at the age of 4 years.
  2. Junior KG at the age of 5 years.
  3. Senior KG at the age of 6 years.
  4. 1st standard at the age of 7 years.
  5. 2nd standard at the age of 8 years.

Here first 3 serial numbers are (4th, 5th and 6th years) Anganwadi/ pre-school/Balvatika)

Next 3 Years (Preparatory)

  1. 3rd standard at the age of 9 years.
  2. 4th standard at the age of 10 years.
  3. 5th standard at the age of 11 years.
Alphabets

Next 3 Years (Middle)

  1. 6th standard at the age of 12 years.
  2. 7th standard at the age of 13 years.
  3. 8th standard at the age of 14 years

Next 4 Years (Socondary)

  1. 9th standard at age of 15 years.
  2. Secondary schooling certificate which is 10th standard at the age of 16 years.
  3. First year Junior College which is FYJC at age of 17 years.
  4. Second year Junior College that is SYJC at the age of 18 years.
National Education Policy 2020

College degree will be 3  and 4 years old that is a certificate will be given on the first year of graduation,  diploma in the second year  and degree in  the third year.

3 year degree is for those students who do not have to take higher education.  At the same time students doing higher education will have to do a 4 year degree.  Students doing 4 years degree will be able to do MA in one year.

Now students will not have to do M.Phill.  rather MA students will now be able to do PhD directly.

Students will be able to do other courses in between.

Gross enrollment ratio will be 50% by 2035 in higher education.  At the same time under the new education policy if a student wants to do another course in the middle of a course then he can take a second course by taking a break for a limited time from the first course.

Many reforms have also been made in higher education.  improvements including a granted academic, administrative and financial autonomy etc,.

Apart from this e courses will be started in the regional languages.

Virtual labs will be developed.

International educational scientific forum will be started.

There are 45000 colleges in the country.

Uniform rules will be for all government, private, deemed institutions.

According to this rule a new academic session can be started and all students and parents need to carefully read this.
